Third Floor Richard

Third Floor Richard performed around Melbourne throughout the 1980s at venues such as the Doncaster Gallery and Jazz After Dark at the Victorian Arts Centre, developing a unique sound influenced by jazz and ECM luminaries such as Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Jan Garbarek and Egberto Gismonti as well funk and indie rock sounds of the time.

Shane O’Mara’s exquisite guitar sounds, Pas Monea’s indie-laden bass, and Tony Floyd’s percussive effervescence defined the sound of the band, and provided an inspiring vehicle for the development of creative approaches to music making.

The sound of the band is captured on the cd Two Years, released in 1993 and still available for download at CD Baby or from me (I still have a few hundred copies in the shed).
